SMITH family of Johnson and Morgan Counties Kentucky

My grandmother, Cora Ethlyn Smith, was born in Johnson Co, KY to Dennis Smith and Minerva Alice Caudill. I have been able to find a great deal of information on the Caudill and Smith families but none on Dennis himself, except his marriage application in 1895. (See update below)

David Smith and Fanny Holbrook were the parents of Dennis. (This is information from his marriage application)

UPDATE: Thanks to Ann Applegate I now know the burial place of Dennis and his second wife. The graves are unmarked so his wife's name is yet unknown. The location is the Hamilton Cemetery at Red Bush, Johnson County, KY. These records may be viewed at Ann's Homeplace

The above information fits perfectly with what my mother has told me. In 1930 she visited with Dennis and his family. She could not remember his wife's name but stated he had two children, May and Ammie.

5. DENNIS S4 SMITH (DAVID3, ELIJAH2, ELIJAH1) was born 1874 in Johnson Co, KY. He married MINERVA ALICE CAUDILL 24 Jan 1895 in Johnson Co, KY, daughter of REUBEN CAUDILL and LEVISA BARNETT. DENNIS married second ELLEN CONLEY of Lawrence County, KY in 1901.

Dennis married a second time and my mother believes that his wife's name was Martha. There were also two children involved with this second marriage. One was a son, Ambrose/Amberse/Ammie, and a daughter named May/Mae who married a Jenkins? and moved to Florida, probably in the 1930's. Ambrose/Amberse/Ammie was possibly born in 1920. The last record I have found for Dennis is the 1930 census where is is living with wife Ellen and son Ambrose on Mine Fork Rd., in Magoffin County, Wheelersburg, KY.
